The triathlon swim (750 meters) features a wave start and follows an open water course on Lake James.
The first duathlon run (4.1 miles), concurrent with the triathlon swim, follows a non-technical trail on state park property with minimal pavement.
The ride (22 miles) is a well-marked, on-road course consisting of 4 miles on state park property and an 18 mile loop with views of the lake all along the way.
The run (5K) is mostly on non-technical dirt trail with approximately 1/4 to 1/2 mile of pavement. The triathlon and duathlon share the same final run course.
